CAR-FREE SUNDAY TO BE HELD DURING EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK
The "Car-Free Sunday, Boulevards Are Ours" event, organised by Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality on the last Sunday of every month as part of its 2026 activities, will take place this month on Sunday, 20 September, to coincide with European Mobility Week.
Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality continues to organise the "Car-Free Sunday, Boulevards Are Ours" event to promote sustainable transport in the city, encourage walking and cycling, and support the more effective use of public spaces in urban life.
Normally held on the last Sunday of every month, bringing Eskişehir residents together on traffic-free boulevards, the event will take place on a different date in September as part of European Mobility Week. On Sunday, 20 September, an approximately 700-metre one-way section of Atatürk Boulevard between Dr. Sadık Ahmet Boulevard and MMM Migros will be closed to vehicle traffic from 1.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
CITY STREETS WILL BELONG TO PEDESTRIANS
The "Car-Free Sunday, Boulevards Are Ours" event will give Eskişehir residents the opportunity to enjoy walking, cycling and spending time outdoors in a safe and open environment away from vehicle traffic.
With boulevards in the city centre closed to vehicles and opened to pedestrians during designated hours, residents will have the opportunity to step away from the intensity of daily life and experience the city's streets in a different way.
AN ACTIVE ESKİŞEHİR
Held as part of this year's European Mobility Week under the motto "Mobility for Everyone", the event aims to draw attention to sustainable transport, encourage Eskişehir residents to be more active in the city, promote active modes of transport and strengthen the goal of creating a more liveable city.
