JOINT PROJECTS FOR TURKISH COMMUNITIES ABROAD DISCUSSED
Erkan Öztürk, Mayor of Berchem, Belgium, paid a visit to Eskişehir Metropolitan Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce at her office.
During the courtesy visit, opportunities for cooperation between the two cities were discussed. Emphasising the importance of strengthening relations between Berchem and Eskişehir at the local government level, Mayor Erkan Öztürk stated that mutual visits could be increased and joint initiatives could be undertaken, particularly to strengthen ties with Turkish communities living in Belgium.
Öztürk noted that joint events could be organised on cultural occasions such as the anniversary of Turkish labour migration to Europe, and said that meetings bringing young people together could be organised within the framework of Erasmus and similar international programmes.
Eskişehir Metropolitan Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce also expressed her pleasure at the kind visit and stated that international cooperation would make a significant contribution to the development of cultural, social and economic relations between cities.
