A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS FOR "Bİ'FİKİRLE ESKİŞEHİR": CITIZENS' IDEAS TO SHAPE THE 2027 BUDGET
A new application period has begun for "Bi'Fikirle Eskişehir," Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality's participatory budgeting initiative. Following the implementation of projects proposed by citizens last year, Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce once again invited the people of Eskişehir to share ideas that will help shape the city's future.
As part of its commitment to participatory and transparent governance, Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality has launched a new phase of the "Bi'Fikirle Eskişehir" participatory budgeting programme. Through this initiative, citizens' suggestions directly contribute to municipal services and investment plans. Residents of Eskişehir will be able to submit project proposals they wish to see included in the Municipality's 2027 budget. The application period, which began on 12 June, will continue until 5 July.
Calling on citizens to take part in the new cycle of the participatory budgeting initiative, Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce noted that many of the ideas submitted by residents last year have already been transformed into tangible projects across the city.
Mayor Ünlüce said: "Together, we are opening a new chapter in our journey with the Bi'Fikirle Eskişehir participatory budgeting initiative. Last year, the ideas that emerged from your hearts and minds began to come to life throughout our city. Some projects have already been completed: our streets have become more vibrant, and healthy living spaces have been created for our elderly citizens. To support our young people's educational journeys, we introduced a completely free digital learning platform for students preparing for the LGS and YKS examinations. Through the Family-Friendly Culture and Arts Spaces Project, we created new environments where parents can comfortably attend events while children enjoy safe and engaging activities. Other projects continue with great enthusiasm. Each initiative is the result of the collective efforts of people who care deeply about this city."
Emphasizing that the future of the city will continue to be shaped through collective wisdom, Mayor Ünlüce added:
"Now is the time for new ideas, new projects, and new hopes. For Eskişehir, 2027 represents not merely another calendar year, but a special period that will further strengthen the spirit of creating and making decisions together. We remain committed to the same approach: listening to the voice of our city, identifying its needs together, and shaping its future through shared wisdom."
Stating that everyone living in Eskişehir is an important part of this process, Mayor Ünlüce invited residents to contribute to the participatory budgeting initiative with their project proposals. Mayor Ünlüce said: "Sometimes, a single idea can spark change in a neighbourhood, a street, or even an entire city. That is why I once again invite you to share your ideas and help shape the future of this city through your suggestions. Let us continue to talk about Eskişehir together, think together, and make our city even better--together."
