Eskişehir Zoo continues to maintain its strong position in the international arena. Having been elected last year to the Executive Committee of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) as Türkiye's representative, the institution has once again been re-elected to the same position this year, achieving another significant success.
As a member of EAZA, Eskişehir Zoo will continue to represent EAZA-member zoos and aquariums in Türkiye at the EAZA Council during the new term under the coordination of Eskişehir Zoo Director, Cenk Korugan. In this way, the institution will continue to represent both Türkiye and Eskişehir on the international platform.
By the decision taken during the 2026 EAZA Directors' Meeting held in the Netherlands between 13-17 April 2026, Eskişehir Zoo once again earned the right to serve on the EAZA Executive Committee. This development once again demonstrated the institution's international prestige and recognition.
In a joint statement regarding the achievement, Head of the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Veterinary Affairs İbrahim Atak and Eskişehir Zoo Director Cenk Korugan emphasised that representing Türkiye until 2028 carries a great responsibility. They also extended their thanks to İzmir Wildlife Park and Bursa Zoo for their support, as well as to the officials of Beekse Bergen Zoo for their hospitality.
The meeting also addressed wildlife conservation, Türkiye's rich biodiversity, and the risks posed by the climate crisis. Participants exchanged ideas on projects aimed at raising awareness of these issues by fostering stronger engagement with visitors.
