Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality continues to implement projects that will add value to the city within the scope of the "2026 Year of Eskişehir." As part of the "Bi'Fikirle Eskişehir" initiative, one of the significant examples of the municipality's participatory governance approach, projects shaped by citizens' suggestions are being carried out in phases. Most recently, work has commenced on the "Porsuk Stream and Bridges Lighting Project."
A total of 26 projects selected from proposals submitted by citizens during the participatory budgeting process conducted last year by the Metropolitan Municipality's Strategy Department are being implemented as part of the 2026 Year of Eskişehir projects. Among these projects, work has now begun on the "Porsuk Stream and Bridges Lighting Project."
Electrical teams from the Metropolitan Municipality's Department of Road Construction, Maintenance and Repair are preparing to give a new dimension to Eskişehir's nighttime skyline by illuminating Porsuk Stream and the surrounding bridges--one of the city's iconic landmarks--with modern lighting systems. The project prioritizes designs that complement the architectural silhouette of the bridges, preserve aesthetic harmony, and contribute to the city's nighttime appearance.
In the first phase, electrical teams have started work on the İki Eylül Street Tram Bridge. This will be followed by visual lighting works on the Şair Fuzuli Street Vehicle Bridge, Atatürk Street Vehicle Bridge, and the Porsuk-1, Porsuk-2, Porsuk-3, and Porsuk-4 pedestrian bridges.
The Metropolitan Municipality stated that once the works are completed, Eskişehir will gain a more vibrant and visually impressive atmosphere, particularly during the evening hours.
Since January, several projects selected for the Year of Eskişehir under the "Bi'Fikirle Eskişehir" initiative have already been successfully implemented, including the "Eskişehir Public School (Preparing for Exams), Healthy Ageing Workshop, and Animal Shelter Pet Food Production Facility" projects.
