A VEHICLE-FREE SUNDAY BRINGS A QUIET AND CLEAN CITY EXPERIENCE
The "Vehicle-Free Sunday" initiative, held on the last Sunday of every month in Eskişehir, is set to once again slow down city life and hand the streets over to pedestrians this weekend. As part of the program carried out by the Eskişehir Büyükşehir Municipality, designated routes will be closed to motor vehicle traffic on Sunday, April 26, 2026, between 10:00 and 16:00.
As stated in the announcement by Eskişehir Büyükşehir Municipality, the streets and avenues included in this month's implementation are as follows: Nevruz Street (between Nilüfer Street and Akdoğdu Street / 660 meters), Fabrikalar Street (between Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Büyükerşen Boulevard and İsmet İnönü 1 Boulevard, one-way / 290 meters), and Atatürk Boulevard (between Dr. Sadık Ahmet Boulevard and Migros, one-way / 700 meters).
With the aim of bringing relief to urban life, the initiative seeks to enable citizens to freely walk, cycle, and experience public spaces in a safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable environment.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, April 26, in the hours between 10:00 and 16:00, the southern section of Atatürk Boulevard between Şehit Güngören Bostan Street and Dr. Sadık Ahmet Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic. The bus lines operating along this route -- Black 2, Black 11, Red 11, Black 17, Red 26, Red 63, and Med.Faculty Ekspres -- will continue to provide service via alternative routes.
According to the alternative transportation plan, vehicles will be able to rejoin Atatürk Boulevard via Dr. Sadık Ahmet Boulevard and Şehit Güngören Bostan Street. The designated routes have been arranged to accommodate both public transport and private vehicle traffic.
