The Art Street and Avlu Eskişehir Art Complex, initiated under the leadership of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce, continues to bring an innovative dimension to the city's cultural and artistic life. Art Street is now hosting artworks produced at Arçelik's Back2Life Art Workshop in Eskişehir, where recycled materials are brought back to life. This special exhibition, which blends Eskişehir's cultural fabric with art, offers the city a creative perspective focused on sustainability.
Prioritizing recycling at every stage from production to design for a more livable future, Arçelik is transforming industrial waste into art at its Back2Life Art Workshop in Eskişehir. The works, created with the contributions from Anadolu University's Faculty of Fine Arts Sculpture Department and various artists, have been brought to Art Street -- Eskişehir's meeting point for culture and art -- in collaboration with the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality.
The exhibition redefines the relationship between sustainability and aesthetics through artworks created by recycling industrial waste. Displayed in Art Street located in the historical Odunpazarı district, the Back2Life pieces reveal that industrial waste can gain not only renewed use but also new meaning and artistic value through art.
Fatih Kemal Ebiçlioğlu, President of Koç Holding Durable Goods Group, said in his statement:
"As Koç Group, aligned with our 'Together for the Future' sustainability strategy, we develop innovative solutions to benefit the environment and society across all geographies in which we operate. In this context, our leading brand in the durable goods sector, Arçelik, is implementing circular business models, increasing the use of recycled materials, and conducting projects to reduce our environmental impact. We don't just recycle industrial waste -- we transform it into art, demonstrating how change can become an inspiring journey. Eskişehir is not just an important production hub for us; it is also a center that lies at the heart of our vision for transformation and innovation. One of our high-tech production facilities in Eskişehir was selected for the World Economic Forum's Global Lighthouse Network, which highlights global leaders in Industry 4.0. The city is also home to our Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Recycling Facility, a first in the sector. At our Back2Life Workshop in Eskişehir, which aligns with our sustainability approach, industrial waste meets art in the hands of artists and designers -- gaining new life. Bringing this exhibition, created in the workshop, to life in a city like Eskişehir -- known for its artistic and aesthetic identity and where art is part of daily life -- is especially meaningful for us. Our collaboration with Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality plays a vital role in sharing this vision with the public. This exhibition shows that transformation is not only an environmental necessity but also a form of artistic expression and a societal value. We are very pleased to meet with the people of Eskişehir in this unique venue that merges the city's historical and cultural identity with art. We sincerely thank Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality for their valuable support."
During the exhibition's opening, Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce also stated:
"As the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, we are committed to developing our city not only with infrastructure but also with culture, art, and environmental awareness. With this vision, Art Street and the Avlu Eskişehir Art Complex, which we launched, have quickly become vibrant living spaces that touch the soul of our city. Today, we are proud to host the works of the Back2Life Art Workshop, a result of a valuable collaboration. In line with Arçelik's sustainability vision, this workshop breathes new life into industrial waste, integrates it with art, and grants it new aesthetic value. This exhibition once again shows us that transformation is not only physical but also an intellectual journey. The transformation of discarded, used materials into works of art both raises environmental awareness and gives us hope. We believe that art has a universal language that brings together people and nature. For this reason, we will continue to support all areas of art, create spaces for young artists, and contribute to projects that generate societal benefit. I sincerely thank all the artists who contributed to the Back2Life Workshop, the Arçelik family who led this project, and all stakeholders who played a role in bringing this exhibition to life."
The artworks created at the Back2Life Workshop breathe new life into Eskişehir's already vibrant cultural and artistic scene. This special exhibition, which blends art with the natural rhythm of the city, turns awareness of a sustainable future into an aesthetic experience. All Eskişehir residents are invited to discover this inspiring exhibition at Art Street, where transformation becomes art and waste turns into value.
About the Back2Life Art Workshop
Arçelik, the first and only industrial company in Türkiye to have both production and recycling facilities, established the Back2Life Art Workshop in Eskişehir in 2023 to unite waste materials with art. At Back2Life, the parts sourced primarily from Arçelik's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Recycling Facilities, as well as other industrial materials, are repurposed -- offering a creative space for artists, academics, and fine arts students.
Located in the Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone and covering an area of 320 square meters, the workshop was built entirely using recycled and upcycled materials. Constructed from eight shipping containers, the building features components such as railings, façade glass, insulation materials, and flooring all derived from past production processes. As a concrete reflection of Arçelik's vision of placing sustainability at the center of its design and production processes, Back2Life stands as a creative hub where industrial waste is not only recycled but transformed into art.
