Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality continues to build bike paths across the city while also continuing education and awareness campaigns. As part of this effort, 20 children quickly learned to ride bicycles and chose to use them as their preferred mode of transportation during ESMEK's bicycle training program, which began on July 21st.
Children learned to ride their bikes and had a great time at the free "I'm Learning to Ride a Bike, I'm Living Healthy" course, organized in collaboration with the Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Services Department and ESMEK. Upon successfully completing the training, which was conducted under the guidance of expert instructors, participants experienced the joy of riding a bike.
The training, designed to help children develop balance and coordination skills, learn traffic rules, and learn safe cycling skills, produced a colorful display of activity. Led by professional instructors, the course not only taught children how to ride their bikes but also strengthened their physical activity habits through sports.
Students who participated in the training fully equipped received four hours of theoretical instruction and six hours of one-on-one practical instruction. While the training hours were increased according to the children's learning progress, the training, which focused on driving practice, balance exercises, handlebar control, and effective braking, was met with great interest. Kaan Türkmen, one of the students who participated in the course, expressed his joy by saying, "My teacher explains everything to me in detail. I'm cycling slowly. We can go anywhere on a bike; small pedals for a big future."
The children thanked Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce and expressed their desire for the training to continue. Participants who successfully completed the program practiced driving with their families at the Velespit and Büyükpark area, reinforcing their learning.
