"A SIGNIFICANT STEP BY THE CITY THEATERS IN THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA"
Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres' puppet play "I Can Fly, Too" was met with great acclaim at the 12th International Open Air Puppet Days Festival in Burgas, Bulgaria, earning it the first-ever selection and invitation to the world's most prestigious festival.
The 12th International Open Air Puppet Days, organized in collaboration with the Burgas State Puppet Theatre and the Burgas Municipality, was held from August 10-15, 2025. Eskişehir City Theatres' play "I Can Fly, Too" premiered on August 11th. Performed outdoors before a large crowd, the play was met with great enthusiasm and concluded with a standing ovation.
Eskişehir City Theatres represented Türkiye at the festival, with puppet groups from Germany, Brazil, and the Czech Republic also participating as invited guests. "I Can Fly Too" was watched with great interest by both visiting teams and festival officials, and was selected from among theaters from various countries to participate in the 32nd International Subotica Children's Theater Festival, one of the world's leading festivals, to be held in Serbia. City Theaters General Artistic Director Hakkı Kuş commented on the event, saying, "We are proud that our play, which was acclaimed in Eskişehir, has received praise and invitations from international festivals. We will be deeply honored to represent our country in this field. I congratulate our team and extend my gratitude to everyone who contributed."
Written and directed by Eskişehir City Theater artist Berkay Akın, "I Can Fly Too" is staged with an entertaining narrative accompanied by charming puppets, and stars City Theater artists Çiğdem Altuğ, Bilge Büyükerşen, and Nagihan Orhan.
