Eskişehir once again hosted the Stillwater Canoe Turkish Cup, becoming the heart of canoeing. The breathtaking championship, organized at Sarısungur Reservoir in collaboration with the Turkish Canoe Federation and Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, concluded after four days of intense competition.
A total of 536 athletes, 209 of whom were women, from 39 clubs across Türkiye competed for the championship in the Stillwater Canoe Turkish Cup, held from June 26-29. Athletes who won in the 200, 500, and 1000-meter races received their awards. Athletes from the Eskişehir Metropolitan Sports Club also achieved significant success in the tournament.
Sarısungur Reservoir, distinguished by its natural beauty and sports infrastructure, provided unforgettable moments for athletes and fans. On the first day of the event, the 1000- and 500-meter heats were held. On the second day, the heats and finals of the 200-meter races were held, and then the medals were awarded to the athletes who won the 200-meter race. On the third day, the 500-meter finals were held, and the medals were awarded. On the fourth and final day, Sunday, June 29th, the 1000-meter finals were held. The championship concluded with an awards ceremony following these races.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Canoe Federation President Alper Cavit Kabakçı expressed his great pleasure in being in Eskişehir again this year. Kabakçı said, "We wholeheartedly thank Metropolitan Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce and her team for their hospitality in organizing our event."
Deputy Metropolitan Mayor Hasan Ünal said, "First of all, we are delighted to host you in Eskişehir. We always support sports and athletes. I believe that all our athletes rowing here will achieve success for our country in international competitions." Athletes from Eskişehir Metropolitan Sports Club also achieved significant success in the races. Ecrin Su Yılmaz, one of the club's successful athletes, took first place in the 500- and 200-meter races in the Junior Women's C1 category, while Mehmet Ali Duman took first place in the 500- and 200-meter races and second place in the 1000-meter race in the Senior Men's C1 category.
