DRY LANDSCAPING INCREASES WATER SAVINGS IN ESKİŞEHİR
The Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality is implementing drip irrigation dry landscaping at intersections and median strips to combat water scarcity. The work completed near the Haller Youth Center combines water conservation and aesthetics.
The Metropolitan Municipality Parks and Gardens Department operates with sustainable urban design principles. In this framework, landscaping improvements using dry landscaping, which reduces water consumption, have recently been implemented around the Haller Youth Center.
In dry landscaping, a drip system is used to irrigate plants. This system applies very little water to only the plants that need it. Decorative materials such as slag and dolomite stone are used to create unique patterns around the area. This creates an effective landscape with less water and enhances the aesthetic appeal of the areas.
This Metropolitan Municipality implementation provides economic and ecological benefits. It conserves resources by reducing water consumption and improves the quality of the city's green spaces.
To combat the impacts of climate change, the Metropolitan Municipality is pursuing an innovative and cost-effective approach to landscaping. This not only uses water resources efficiently but also enhances the city's visual appeal. These new landscapes are among the most successful examples of sustainable urban planning.
