Union of Turkish Municipalities Executive Board Member and Eskişehir Metropolitan Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce attended the Union of Turkish Municipalities Assembly "Deputy Mayor Election" meeting held in Ankara. Recalling that this was the third election in a year, Mayor Ünlüce said, "As the Union of Turkish Municipalities (TBB), we will continue to fully defend democracy, local government, and the will of the people."
The vote, held at the Union of Turkish Municipalities (TBB) Assembly meeting, was attended by Eskişehir Metropolitan Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce, a natural member of the TBB; Odunpazarı Mayor Kazım Kurt; Tepebaşı Mayor Ahmet Ataç; full members Sivrihisar Mayor Habil Dökmeci; Çifteler Mayor Zehra Konakcı; Seyitgazi Mayor Uğur Tepe; Alpu Mayor Gürbüz Güller; Mahmudiye Mayor İshak Gündoğan; and Metropolitan Municipality Council Member Nurcan Alkan.
Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer and Trabzon Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç were nominated as candidates for the Union's Deputy Mayor positions in a vote held at the Union of Turkish Municipalities (TBB) Assembly Meeting. Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer was elected Deputy Mayor, receiving 453 votes from three council members in the election. Trabzon Metropolitan Mayor Genç received 199 votes.
Emphasizing democracy, Mayor Ünlüce stated, "Due to the arrests of Mayor Ekrem and Mayor Zeydan, we held our third election in a year within the Union of Turkish Municipalities. I congratulate our esteemed comrade, Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer, who was elected Deputy Mayor by receiving a large majority of votes at the general assembly held in Ankara. We also discussed important issues for our municipalities at the council meeting held after the election. As the TBB, we will continue to defend democracy, local government, and the will of the people to the very end." Following the presidential election, President Ayşe Ünlüce held the July meeting of the TBB Executive Committee under the leadership of TBB Deputy President and Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer.
