The "Night Observation Event," organized by the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Science and Experiment Center and the Sabancı Planetarium, and the Eskişehir Astronomy Society, brought together science enthusiasts. The first event of 2025, held in the Mahmudiye district, transformed into a veritable science festival with the participation of hundreds of sky enthusiasts.
The Science and Experiment Center and Sabancı Planetarium, which continue their activities to foster a love of science among people of all ages, organized an event in collaboration with the Eskişehir Astronomy Society, bringing together those interested in the sky. Approximately 650 people attended the event, and the sky observations and astronomy talks were highly appreciated.
The event included a model airplane workshop and various scientific activities for children. The observation event began with a solar telescope, followed by sunset and the opportunity to observe the Moon, our satellite, through telescopes. Constellation explanations and sky demonstrations by expert astronomers provided unforgettable moments for attendees. One of the most striking moments of the evening was the International Space Station passing over the observers. Science enthusiasts were both surprised and thrilled. Q&A sessions also provided participants with the opportunity to ask and discuss astronomy-related questions with experts.
Night Observation Events will be held in Mihalıççık on Tuesday, July 29th, in Seyitgazi on Friday, August 29th, and in Çifteler on Monday, September 22nd.
The Science Experiment Center and Sabancı Planetarium announced that such events are important for increasing interest in science and raising awareness, and that similar events will continue throughout the year.
