The 16th International Eskişehir Children, Youth and Puppet Theater Festival will start with a festival march from Köprübaşı on Saturday, May 24. The festival, which will be attended by theater groups from 8 different countries, will continue until May 28.
The opening of the festival, which has a colorful program like every year, will start with a march from Köprübaşı to the festival area behind the Haller Youth Center at 17:00 on Saturday, May 24. On the opening day, the play Kanatlarım, a joint production of Yifans Company and Théâtre National de Nîmes from France, and the play Circus by puppeteer Jordi Bertran, who is participating in the festival from Spain, can be watched outdoors in the festival area.
The festival program, which will include the show African and Turkish Dances by Eskişehir İKGV African Childrens Dance Group, which is part of the Human Resources Development Foundation, is quite impressive. The festival will feature the play Joyful Truth by Puck Puppet Theater from Romania, Eller Yukarı by Dutch artist Leo Petersen, Erik ile Çöp by Pro Rodopi Art Center & Burgas State Puppet Theater from Bulgaria, İvaşliğin Keşfi by Tiyatro Gruenne Sosse Group from Germany, Top? Top. Top! by Mittiprickteatern Theater from Sweden, Particle by Antalya City Theaters Puppet Theater Unit, and Kalbimdeki Pervane by Bozüyük Municipality Theater.
This year, Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters will stage children's plays called "Pompenya" and "I Can Fly Too", while the 9th Term students of the City Theaters Youth Stage will premiere their end-of-education project play called "Animal Farm".
A talk on Children and Youth Theater will be held with Prof. Dr. Tülin Sağlam within the festival, and different workshops such as the Bulgarian team's Puppet Play Workshop, Filiz Çankaya Uzun's Puppet Making Workshop called "When the Glaciers Melt" and the Puppet Play Workshop called "Why Are Polar Bears Sad?" as well as English Creative Drama will be held in open areas.
