Eskişehir Hammam Museum, the first and only Turkish bath museum in Türkiye, brought to our city by the Metropolitan Municipality, hosted a watercolor workshop led by artist and academic Özgür Uğuz. The event both encouraged artistic production and provided important information about the historical development of watercolor art.
This time, Eskişehir Hamam Museum hosted an art event. The watercolor workshop hosted by artist and academician Özgür Uğuz attracted the attention of the participants with both its technical content and historical context.
The watercolor technique, which was preferred by many artists from Europe to Asia and was also used by masters such as Sandro Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci, had an important place in Turkish painting history during the Ottoman period, together with names such as Hoca Ali Rıza, Osman Hamdi Bey, Hüseyin Zekai Pasha and Malik Aksel. Özgür Uğuz, who also contributed to the establishment of the Hamam Museum with his watercolor works, provided practical training to the participants at the event. Focusing on the details of the watercolor technique, the workshop also supported the individual productions of the participants.
Eskişehir CHP Deputy Jale Nur Süllü attended the event with her granddaughter Ada. In her evaluation during the event, Süllü drew attention to the importance of cultural events in terms of city memory. Participants spent a day surrounded by art and had the opportunity to gain practical information about watercolor technique in the workshop held in a museum atmosphere.
