ESKİŞEHİR ZOO TO REPRESENT TÜRKİYE ON EAZA EXECUTIVE BOARD
Eskişehir Zoo has been elected to the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) Executive Board to represent Türkiye. With this new role, Eskişehir Zoo has been authorized to represent EAZA member zoos and aquariums in Türkiye on the EAZA Council.
Eskişehir Zoo, a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA), continues to make Eskişehir’s name heard in the international arena. Veterinary Affairs Department Head Nurben Fatma Koptekin, who attended the EAZA Executives Meeting and Council Meeting organized by the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) in Valencia, Spain between April 1-4, announced that Eskişehir Zoo was elected to the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) Executive Board to represent Türkiye.
Koptekin, who stated that with this new duty, Eskişehir Zoo has gained the authority to represent all EAZA member zoos and aquariums in Türkiye in the EAZA Council, said, “The Council will contribute to the determination of roadmaps for the work of more than 400 zoos and aquariums in Europe over the next three years. With this new duty, guidance activities will also be carried out to increase cooperation between zoos and aquariums in Türkiye, raise animal welfare standards and increase the efficiency of species protection efforts.”
Providing information about the meeting, Koptekin said that wildlife, Türkiye’s rich biodiversity and the risks posed by the climate crisis were also on the agenda and that various projects were discussed to increase awareness on these issues by establishing stronger interactions with visitors.
