Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Zoo, a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA), represented our country at the International Bald Ibis Symposium held in Spain. Veterinary Affairs Department Head Nurben Fatma Koptekin, who attended the symposium, provided information about the work done in Türkiye and Eskişehir Zoo.
Having received an invitation from the International Bald Ibis Symposium, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks and Eskişehir Zoo discussed their bald ibis studies in Spain.
Eskişehir Zoo, which has hosted millions of visitors since its opening and is a member of EAZA, continues to set an example with its work. Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Veterinary Affairs Department Head Nurben Fatma Koptekin represented Türkiye at the International Bald Ibis Symposium held in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
The symposium, which brought together scientists, nature conservationists and local government representatives from all over the world, addressed the protection of endangered bald ibises, their reproduction and the improvement of their natural habitats. The symposium, which attracted 76 participants from 15 countries, discussed scientific research on the protection of bald ibises, the use of biotechnological methods and the importance of international collaborations.
Koptekin, who made a presentation about the conservation efforts carried out by the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Zoo Branch Directorate, provided information about the bald ibis conservation efforts in Türkiye. The presentation emphasized the responsibilities undertaken by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, local governments and the public in this process.
