WORKS ON THE PROJECT PROMISED BY MAYOR ÜNLÜCE WILL START ON APRIL 7
Works on the Bicycle Path and Parking Stations Project, which Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce started with the promise of increasing the share of bicycles in urban transportation, will start on Monday, April 7. Emphasizing that transportation should no longer be limited to vehicles but also be shaped according to environmentally friendly and sustainable models, Mayor Ünlüce said, “My dear fellow citizens, we are starting the work we promised to do to revive the bicycle culture that is in the urban memory of our city and to make bicycles an important part of urban transportation.”
The project aims for a comprehensive transportation transformation that includes a 72.5-kilometer-long bicycle path and 26 different bicycle parking stations. This project, which will be implemented in three stages, aims to increase bicycle transportation in various parts of the city and encourage environmentally friendly alternatives. Within the scope of the first stage works, a 23-kilometer bicycle path will be built starting from Ali Fuat Güven Street and 10 bicycle parking stations will be established.
Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality expects support from local residents to not park vehicles on the street. In the later stages of the project, other important arteries of the city will be connected with bicycle paths.
In the first stage of the works; Ali Fuat Güven Street, Basın Şehitleri Street, Kızılcıklı Street, İsmet İnönü 1 Street, Yılmaz Büyükerşen Boulevard, Eti Street, Gazi Yakup Satar Street, Hasan Polatkan Street and Sivrihisar 2 Street will be connected with bicycle paths.
