A Sister-City Protocol has been signed between Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality and Lansing, the capital of the US State of Michigan. Speaking at the signing ceremony in Lansing, Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce said, "We will do joint works in every field with our sister city Lansing, as we do with our other sister municipalities."
Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, which aims to develop intercultural communication in sister city relations, to act as a bridge between institutions and organizations of different cities, and to cooperate in areas such as education, trade, industry, health and art, has become a sister city with Lansing.
The Sister-City Protocol between Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality and Lansing, the capital of the state of Michigan in the United States, has been signed in Lansing. Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor, The Head of Sister City Commission Maxine Hankins Cain, Detroit Honorary Consul General Nurten Ural, Chicago Consul General Bora Atatanır, and many other interested parties attended the signing ceremony.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor said, “As the Mayor of Lansing, I am honored and excited to reunite with the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality in the context of the Sister City relationship between our cities, the exploration of which began with my visit to Eskişehir nearly two years ago in November 2022.”
Expressing her great pleasure in being in Lansing, Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce said, “Sister city relations are significant bridges built on sincerity and friendship that bring cities from different geographies and cultures closer together. Within this framework, we have signed the sister city protocol with Lansing Mayor Andy Schor, and Maxine Hankins Cain, the Head of the Sister Cities Commission. I want to thank the esteemed Mayor Andy Schor and his team who welcomed us sincerely, our Honorary Consul General of Detroit Nurten Ural who laid the foundation of this bridge of friendship and accompanied us throughout our visit, and our Consul General of Chicago Bora Atatanır who honored us by attending the signing ceremony. We will undertake joint projects in every field with our sister city Lansing, as we do with our other sister municipalities.”
Mayor Ünlüce, who went to the USA within the scope of the sister city protocol, also visited the Michigan State University (MSU) Turkish Student Union and met with successful university students studying in the USA. After the program Mayor Ünlüce, who visited the Atatürk Park, which was built by the Turkish American Cultural Association (TACAM) said, “It is a great pleasure to come together with the bright future of our country, which follows the path opened by our great leader, Atatürk, and it is a great pride to see the bust of Atatürk here, approximately 10 thousand kilometers away from our country. I would like to thank the students of MSU and the members of TACAM for their hospitality” and later she attended the November 24th Teachers’ Day program.
